Last session (planned for 23rd August) was put on hold for a week - But today (29 August) we are now going ahead with her 3rd session of block 3!

Zoe's planned 3rd session for the 23rd August did not go ahead. Her results of her blood counts were all very low and she was admitted to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for a blood transfusion on that Monday and was allowed to go home at 10:30pm that night after it was completed. Chemotherapy was put on hold (except her at home "6MP" chemo tablet we administer 6 days a week ourselves) for a week to hope her body itself replenishes her platelets on it's own. They usually do this with a blood transfusion to bump up her energy etc and the body has to do the rest on its own.
...And so it did!!!
Zoe had blood work done this morning in Wagga (which went through a breeze thanks to her new little "Zooble" pet and is now off to Sydney for her third session of block 3!
Tomorrow starts with a clinic appointment and an operation to which a Lumbar Puncture is performed, plus an injection of Methetrexate is given into her spine (ITMTX).
She is then admitted to C2 West where she is infused with her third session of high dose Methetrexate (HDMTX) and over the course of the following three days she is given Folinic Acid. She needs to be able to excrete a certain percentage from her body (urinate out) before she is allowed to be discharged from hospital.
We aim to be home late Saturday together as a family for a 9 day break, before her last High dose session of this block 3 of chemo for our little girl. This 3rd Block of chemo concludes with a 2 week full break for us all in Wagga.
This break will hopefully allow me to go with Zoe to school for an hour here and there so her teacher can see how far she might behind in her education as a kinder student at Turvey Park Public.
It will also hopefully enable us, to give Zoe a chance at some kind of normality by being with her friends and in a normal child environment of any kid her age attending school, before she embarks on her next chemo block at which we will be in Sydney for 6 weeks straight together for an intense chemotheraphy block.
This next phase has been described to us as a "hard block in which Zoe might become very ill", by the team at SCH. So we hope Zoe's body gathers enough strength to get through it and hopefully be able to be home in Wagga for her birthday on 26 November for a now planned "IceCream party" at Cold Rock.
P.S. The NSW Gala Ball for Ronald MacDonald House on Saturday 27 August in Sydney was wonderful! Over a million $$ was raised to help sick children and their families cope with a "home away from home" while they undergo treatment. We value RMH very much and were "shouted" by a company called "Cerebos" so Daddy and Mummy could attend as a "face of the parents" of a sick child. Our first night off in over 5 mths and we had a lovely time.
